    Porch door and front door

Inspired by this thread https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/upvc-front-door-refresh.524923/ I wondered if I could get some help with our porch door and front door please? The porch was added on after the house was built but before we moved in, it has a pretty standard upvc door which has seen...

    Garage door lock

Sorry for the late reply, I have been looking at automatic openers and I think they may well solve the problem. Thanks for the suggestion

    Garage door lock

We have a standard up and over garage door (Hormann) which uses a eurolock. We don't have a personnel door to the house so can only use the up and over for access. When I am in and out of the garage doing things I often forget to lock it once I have finished so I wondered if there is a type of...

    Shower Pump

It is a twin impeller pump as you suggest, but the existing pump is installed in the airing cupboard right next to the en-suite. The main bathroom is across the landing so I am looking at putting a second pump in there, under the bath.

    Shower Pump

We have a shower in the en-suite which is supplied via a pump (gravity fed system with hot water cylinder in airing cupboard). The existing shower pump is supplied with cold water from the storage tank in the loft, presumably to equalise the pressure for hot and cold supplies. We want to...

    Paving advice please

We moved in last December and are now starting to direct our attention to the garden. No idea of the history but for some reason the flags in the back garden have been laid as can be seen in the pictures with a slope up to the house wall. I am assuming that the DPC is situated at the joint...

    Leak near water meter

I wonder if anyone could advise about this please. I noticed water dripping out of the built into the wall water meter housing on our house, I first thought it was trapped rain water as we had a major storm yesterday but I mopped it out and it has started dripping again. I have now found a...

    Bosch WAK28161GB E21 fault

Just got this fault appear along with the 'Door Lock' Symbol in the display. I managed to open the door and liberate the washing using the emergency door release but the fault code re-appears as soon as the machine is switched on. Can't find any reference to E21 in the documentation I have got...

recently cleared patch of ground - weed suppression

Hi, We recently had a very overgrown patch of ground to the side of our house cleared back to the soil. While we decide what to do with it long term could anyone advise the best method of suppressing the return of weeds please? I am no gardening expert (obvious huh?) but most weed killers...

    Routing cooker hood ducting

We are about to refit our kitchen. There is an existing cooker hood but this is not ducted to the exterior and is therefore pretty much useless. To complicate matters there is redundant grill on the outside wall which is blocked off inside and my measurements suggest that this is in line with...

    Dirty gutters and downpipes

Thanks for all the replies. I used Upvc cleaner from Screwfix but the one from Toolstation looks like it might be more up to the job. Sugar soap is a good call, I think it needs some thing abrasive to shift the stains. I have some Sugar Soap so I will give that a try first

    Dirty gutters and downpipes

I wonder if anyone could advise the best way of cleaning plastic rainwater goods please? I have posted a couple of pictures that illustrate the problem, I have tried soap and water and also Upvc Cleaner but nothing seems to shift it. I expect it needs something abrasive but I don't want to...

    Suggestions appreciated

Hi, We moved into the house last December and are just getting to grips with the outside space. We have just had an area of overgrown garden cleared from the side of the house and would appreciate any suggestions as to what to do with the recently cleared space. The guy who did the clearance...

    Estilo LVT

We are in the process of researching flooring for our new to be kitchen and were steered towards Estilo Rigid LVT by a salesman at Flooring UK. According to him (unsurprisingly) it is the best thing since sliced bread and is certainly cheaper than some of the other similar products from better...

    Temporary removal of downstairs WC

We are going to get the kitchen replaced in the near future and part of the process involves replacing the flooring in the kitchen, utility room and downstairs WC. The toilet and washbasin are going to be replaced so we will remove the old ones and replace with new items once the new floor is...

Any way to tidy this up?

Thanks, hopefully I can make a better job of the boxing in than that which went before. The radiator is already destined for the skip.

Any way to tidy this up?

I have just removed some fairly hideous boxing in from our downstairs WC in readiness for laying a new floor and found this fairly hideous pipework underneath it. Just wondered if there was any way of tidying this installation up so that the pipework is more 'compact' and closer to the wall...

    Downpipe misaligned

Thanks for all the replies, I went with the suggestion from Lower in the end, seemed like to easiest option and used round fittings.

    Downpipe misaligned

We moved into the house last December and I am slowly working my way through a list of things to do ( I suspect that the people who built the house possessed neither a tape measure or spirit level!). Anyway, latest issue is this that I found when clearing some overgrown vegetation at the side...
