    insulating a sectional concrete garage

It will be half the price, but it will be done a lot quicker meaning we can get on with the groundwork and landscaping this year rather than waiting until September for the garage.

So how do you suggest I stop it sweating?

    insulating a sectional concrete garage

We've moved into a house with a double sectional concrete garage. Structurally it is sound, it needs a new roof, its ugly and it sweats like hell. We had a price for knocking down and rebuilding in brick but we can't really afford it and it is ages before we can be fitted in. So I'm thinking...

That sounds like it might be a plan. Thanks.

Staining glazed internal doors - how to keep the glass clear?

I've got 3 engineered oak glazed doors to stain with Johnstones satin wood stain (oil based). a professional decorator friend of mine says he masks the glass prior to ever coat but he says its important to remove after each coat before it dries. But 3 coats on each side of the door means I'd...

That's not a bad shout. Thanks.

How to stop tape pulling off free emulsion!

If it is an adhesion problem I'm not sure what I could have done differently. It was sanded, cleaned, mist coated 50:50, a couple of coats of contract matt and then trade vinyl matt top coat. It tends to pull the top coat of vinyl matt, but leaves the white contract matt.

How to stop tape pulling off free emulsion!

I'm at my wits end! How can I stop making tape pulling off the new emulsion when I'm silicone-ing round windows etc. The paint is fully dry and in some cases weeks old. It was properly mist coated bare plaster and I've tried low tack tape. But it still comes off. Has anyone got any tips or...

Interior Satin Paint - to go water-based or not?

After a bit of research it does appear the yellowing issue has improved since I last bought some satin paint, so I have gone with oil based dulux trade in the end. I'm happy with the application and the finish, we'll see how the yellowing goes.

Interior Satin Paint - to go water-based or not?

We will shortly be going through the house re-doing the woodwork. Most will be new wood which I will obviously prepare properly. Before the EU change the spec of oil based paints I promised never to use water-based wood paints about 10 years ago after deciding it was rubbish. BUT due to the...

Thanks for that. Interesting that you say laminate will mark less. We were going for LVT as popular opinion is that it is more robust.

    Click together Luxury Vinyl Tiles

We've decided to use the above to go completely through our bungalow. Probably be using Polyflor Camaro Loc. Anyone used it before? Got any tips for a newbie installer? All the skirting and architraves are off and I plan to cut the door frames to slide it under. I don't really want...

tips wanted for painting large ceiling

To be honest, I can't remember as there has been quite a bit of time between this last coat and the previous ones as I have been waiting for longer days. I will make sure I turn for what will hopefully be the last coat!

tips wanted for painting large ceiling

That's great, thanks for the reply. I will experiment with some longer pile rollers & the same paint before I buy anything else. Really want to avoid having to sand if possible, I thought I'd seen the back of the mess!

tips wanted for painting large ceiling

Yes, mist coated fine. I've used the same method all through the house and it just seems to be an issue in the larger rooms where you can look more easily 'across' the ceiling. Coverage is fine, but it almost looks like a different texture. The same kind of thing as when you try to do a spot...

tips wanted for painting large ceiling

I'm currently struggling to get an even finish on our new living room ceiling. I've never had issues before but because the room is so large (approx. 6m x 6m) it is proving difficult to get a finish that does look patchy. I've been using Leyland trade contract matt with a short pile roller...

What flooring choice - opinions/experience wanted

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll give it a go. We are in the process of renovating our bungalow. We've got suspended wooden floors (18mm chipboards) with Polypipe overlay wet UFH. The UFH boards are 18mm and look like a cement type board for those that are unaware of it. These...

Yes, you look to have been right. I kept bleeding every day and getting a little more air out and it seems to have worked.

    Noisy rad

we recently had a radiator with a pin hole downstairs. I replaced it and took the opportunity to drain down the system and replace the inhibitor as well. Ever since, the radiator in our bedroom has become noisy when the heating first starts up. Which is annoying first thing on a morning! We...

    Novice Texecom Veritas Excel Install

Ah, now I see the benefit of EOL, but still a bit over my head! Plus I'd have to re-wire the other 5 good zones. I've already taken the two easiest wires out. The door sensor will be a bit more tricky, but hopefully be able to tape the new wire onto the end and pull it through ok. Thanks...
