    Best way to do this

Hi, I have a 40mm x 21.5mm reducer which needs to take a 13mm hose from the drainer on my water softner. The trouble is I can't seem to get anything to clip it in and make it a nice tight fit. This is connected to my sink waste so I need to be careful about smells coming back up as...

    water softner overflow pipe

I have another feed which covers the brine discharge. this is the overflow in the event of failure/problems. I will source some 22mm grey pipe. I assume I may need a connector but it might just fit into the solid elbow on the rear.

    water softner overflow pipe

Hi I've just had my kitchen redone and needed to plumb in the water softner. It uses flexible hoses for the cold in/out. There is an overflow which says to use a pushfit pipe and not solvent weld. This is a standard overflow pipe and a 21.5mm pipe slots in nicely. This needs to be put...

    bco 85mm cavity advise

My internal garage is getting a cavity wall installled .soft block and plasterboard. The cavity is 120mm. I was advised to use rock wool 85mm and I could not use celotex as it would need 50mm to prevent condensation. Can I upgrade to 100mm wool instead

    Soil Pipe

Hi, I'm replacing my downstairs toilet. In the corner of the toilet I have a soil vent pipe coming up the wall by about 1m with a cap on the end. I am not 100% sure but I think when the extension was built the builders tapped into the main soil vent pipe which is located elsewhere. As...

    support columns

    Advise on conversion

Ah I see. I suspect I didn't need to apply and it was always going to be subject to BC. However I didn't want to take the risk. It didn't cost me a great deal. I will speak to them and see how they plan to do it and check with BC that they would approve. Ulitmately I won't be selling...

    Power to shed

wow! generated lots of discussion. The wiring is sound as the electrician did the tests when fitting the new consumer unit. At the time we still used the old shower when the bathroom was done he terminated it in the loft but I asked him to not to remove from the consumer unit. I can't...

    Power to shed

Its probably been asked lots! I've got the idea of using 40mm pipe or Armour cable underground. However the main power line would be far easier to get outside if I could run the cable down the external wall from the roof. I have got a spare mains cable in the loft which is not serving...

    metal work?

Hi I've had a new bathroom fitted and the concealed mixer. Sadly it's not been recessed enough. About 1.5cm and 2 cm. IM thinking of tiling behind it so tile on tile followed by silcone. An alternative I've considered is taking the plate to someone to fabricate a new one with sides on ie...

Is this socket suitable for a spur

many thanks. Yes it is a ring main. I suspected I could but was a bit nervous to take the plunge first. I just need to buy some twin and earth and I will be away. Are they any specific tests I should run once the cabling is installed ie safety checks?
