Worcester 30Si replace the drain valve

Got a slow drip when the boiler is on, and looking underneath is suggesting there is a weep from the drain valve. I figure it should be straightforward to replace , but before I take the case off a few questions.... 1) can I drain the boiler only, by simply sealing the flow and return...

Need to add crawl hatch to side of kitchen cabinet..

So for various reasons  I need to gain access to a corner of our kitchen where there are units. I think the most straightforward is to cut a hole in the side of the (double, sink housing) carcass. By my calculations that might allow a hole of approaching 40cm wide by near 60cm. Is that...

    Pop rivets help needed.

So I have a project to form a riser for a bbq from a strip of sheet stainless steel, and hopefully the bending will be ok and I plan to rivet the ends together with closed-end pop rivets. I also wanted to use some rivets around the top inside edge to place the bbq grate on (seen it done by other...

Cast Iron Pipe access (ladder?) and plumbers

Its a shared back garden, so there are gates off a lane but nothing wide enough for a cherry picker i'd say. I recon it is about 10 metres. The actual section of duff pipe is only about a meter - slopes from the kitchen window to the main stack, so probably best just to replace it with PVC...

Cast Iron Pipe access (ladder?) and plumbers

Hi, What is the maximum height that a plumber could use a ladder safely to replace a small section of corroded horizontal pipe? We are second floor, which I suspect is beyond the scope. Which leads me on to.... If scaffolding needs to be put up for a day to do the work, how does the...

Dishwasher brands to get or avoid?

So looking at a new integrated dishwasher, and thinking that budget end of the range might be the way to go. Any idea how these brands generally stack-up against one another?: Indesit Hotpoint Hoover Beko John Lewis sells them all for £250 or less, and with their 2 year guarantee. Any advice?

Neff integrated dishwasher - can they have slide fitting?

Mystery solved - I contacted the fitter who popped round and then remembered when moving it previously the back legs broke, so it was screwed into the adjoining cabinets . It still isn't clear how, but he will return to assist when i have the new one delivered.

Neff integrated dishwasher - can they have slide fitting?

there are no other legs apart from the two plastic ones at the front that I have screwed up right now so have no weight. there are also no other visible screws apart from 2 each side that seem to be part of the gasket fitting - even with these removed it doesn't move any more apart from the few...

Neff integrated dishwasher - can they have slide fitting?

So my Neff s5443x2gb looks to have finally given up the ghost and my fault finding hasn't worked. What i am most confused about is how it has been fitted into the row of cabinets. It has a gap underneath, and there are two adjustable feet at the front but they are not weight bearing - if I screw...

Energizer LED Strip - want to add another section

So someone has previously fitted some Energizer LED strip lights under our kitchen cabinets, but left one side a little short so I want to extend it. I have taken one 39cm length out and it says the model is 338605. I thought Google would easily find this but unfortunatly not, and the only...

New ES globe lightbulbs needed - branded better?

About to fit a couple of ceiling pendants in the kitchen, and the fittings are standard ES/E27 with a 'Max 60W' warning. Globes would look best for the style of light, and since the pendant is enclosed I am conscious of heat shortening the life of any bulb. As importantly I want to get...

Balancing radiators Vs biggest and furthest away rad.

This seems to contradict conventional wisdom about starting with the closest. Right now the furthest/biggest is fully open and I feel it isn't getting as hot as the others (not that the room isn't getting hot - that's a separate consideration). I was therefore looking to, as endaxi said, "rob...

Balancing radiators Vs biggest and furthest away rad.

So i want to re-balance my rads generally, as over the past couple of years a few have been replaced/added. The slight issue I have however is that the coldest room (lounge - so the one we would generally want to sit when the heating is on during an evening) which just happens to be furthest...

Painting wooden slats of clothes dryer

i'm really surpised there is no suitable paint for wood that is exposed to a bit of dampness. what about something like ronseal floor paint in white? (have used this in grey on a floor and it goes on easily, dries quickly and forms a stable surface)

Painting wooden slats of clothes dryer

Have a cast iron pulley with pine slats. Looking to paint the slats for a couple of reasons... 1) The ceiling is newly painted white so trying to make it stand out a bit less 2) The pine is starting to blacken a little (mould?) - not transferring to clothes yet, but want to prevent future...

Corian Worktop - repair a small hole....

I suppose you would know that for certain if you had actually used it on a flat matt colour of corian, but it sounds like you have not so is therefore guesswork. I appreciate the inut, but I am looking for real experience rather than quoting the marketing guff from a company that sells a...

Corian Worktop - repair a small hole....

Is that something you have done or are you meaning that the video contains the word Corian? If it is the latter, then I have my doubts its the best option for me

Protecting underside of kitchen wall units

Units are 700 above. Its not the doors I am trying to protect, it is the carcass which is the standard finish. Am looking for a thin veneer/other to attach onto the underside of the carcass.

Corian Worktop - repair a small hole....

Think that is OK with granite which is a pretty speckled surface, but the corian I have is a very flat grey colour so needs to be an exact match.
