    Door trimming service?

Thanks. Another question. Does a handyman take the door outside to trim it so they don't make dust and mess indoors?

    Door trimming service?

I recently had a new carpet fitted in a bedroom. The carpet is good. However because of the thickness of the carpet and the 8mm underlay, the door is very stiff and only partially opens. I've looked online to search for a door trimming service, but most companies shown don't seem to specialise...

    Fixing jammed window (faulty mechanism)?

The type of uPVC window it is, the handle is at the bottom of the window in the middle. The handle opens okay, but the window is jammed and won't open. When pushing it, there is some slight movement on the left side of the window, but on the right it seems to be jammed the most.

    Fixing jammed window (faulty mechanism)?

Is it possible to fix a jammed window yourself or does it require a pro? The window is a Safestyle uPVC window. It has a faulty mechanism so doesn't open. One company quoted £96 to fix it. Is that price steep?

    Black and Decker drill?

Yes, I'm looking for a drill for no more than about £60 as I don't intend to use it regularly. Is it worth considering a refurb as on eBay they are about £25-30 cheaper than buying brand new?

    Black and Decker drill?

The house is 1930s. No, I don't think the drill has hammer action. Are there any particular brands of drill you recommend?

    Black and Decker drill?

Its mainly for drilling wood for fixing loose floorboards, but also things such as putting up curtain rails. The old Black and Decker drill is 12V and it wasn't powerful enough for drilling a hole for a curtain rail in one room. So it seems a 12V drill isn't powerful enough for drilling through...

    Black and Decker drill?

I'm looking for a new electric drill that can be used for drilling and using as a screwdriver. I'm considering a Black and Decker drill because I've got some drill pieces from an older B&D drill so I guess these would be best compatible. However, I've recently read some reviews of B&D drills...

    Loose Floorboard - Screw/nail?

How far down into the floorboard should the pilot hole be made? I've read a few guides about pilot holes, but they didn't mention this. Also, is it best to use a countersunk screw? Would a non countersunk screw make the surface of the floorboard not flush enough or should it suffice?

    Loose Floorboard - Screw/nail?

I'm thinking of using Screw Tite screws. However, the Black and Decker drill I have is rather old, its from about 2001 so I'm not sure if the battery will charge anymore as its years since I last used it. Can these type of screws be fitted using an electric screwdriver or is an electric drill...

    Loose Floorboard - Screw/nail?

I've added the photos. The width of the joists the floor board is resting on is wider than I remembered it to be. On one side its 2.5cm wide. The other side is 1.5cm wide.

    Loose Floorboard - Screw/nail?

I've got a problem of a loose floorboard that was cut by a tradesman years ago. The length of it is about 35 inches long. I've had a look underneath. Each end of the loose floorboard is resting on two joists. The width of the joists appears to be only about 1cm wide so there doesn't seem to be...

    Wallpaper paste - Use by?

After mixing wallpaper paste such as Solvite, is it still okay to use the paste after a week? The reason I ask is I Googled this question and some of the sites say wallpaper paste is only good for a few days after being mixed.

    Paint bubbling on door frame

I have a problem where paint is bubbling on the inside of an interior door frame. The cause of it is because I used a heat gun to remove paint on the inside of the door so some heat has gone through the gap in the door causing the paint on the door frame to bubble. I don't have a paint scraper...

Removing window sealant around window sill

I'm removing the old sealant around the interior of a uPVC window. However, the sealant that is between the window sill and the window is very hard as the window was fitted a long while ago about 2005. I've tried removing the sealant using a plastic Unibond sealant remover tool, but its too...

Best way to remove scratches from uPvc window sill?

What is the most effective way to remove scratches from a uPvc window sill? I have a window sill that has a scratch on it. Its not a deep scratch, its only a light scratch. I've searched online. The suggestions vary a lot though such as sanding, using cream cleaner, etc.. with some people not...

    Turning off electricity for lights

I need to remove it, but only temporarily while I put the wallpaper up. I fitted the light fitting myself years ago. I think it has only 2 cables in it. Does it require a diagnostics tool to test if the circuit is dead?
