Upvc door and window installation costs

Could anybody tell me a rough figure for the fitting cost of a upvc front door and 2 upstairs windows approx 1.8m x1.1m. ( Manchester area ). I have been told it can be a bit of a minefield dealing with the big companies and would sooner get the windows supplied myself and pay an installer to...

    Moisture resistant plasterboard

Thanks Noseall for the reply. I was planning to put a shower enclosure in so would probably do as you suggest with the screw fixings. Do I need special fixings to do this without damaging the aquapanel? Also would I get away with using a standard plasterboard in the other areas of the bathroom...

    Moisture resistant plasterboard

Could anyone please tell me if it is ok to dot and dab Gyproc moisture resistant plasterboard or does it need to be attached to studs like aquapanel does. Also, can I dot and dab onto old plaster or do I need to strip back to the brick. Many thanks.

    Shower Tray

I am replacing my shower cubicle and tray. The present one is raised 3 inches and sits on a timber frame to accomodate the waste. The previous owner has no-nailed some boarding around the tray to cover the gap but this doesn't look right. Is it possible to buy some kind of plastic plinths to...

    Wooden Door Frame fitting

I have a very ill fitting hardwood front door. As far as I can make out the frame has been measured to fit tightly into the brickwork and the door just hung into it with large gaps all the way round. The only way round it is to fit the correct size frame to fit a new 80 x 32 door. The problem is...

    Rising butt hinges

I need to replace my hardwood front door. The present door frame has been fitted in such a way that the underlay has been removed around the door area to allow the door to clear the carpet. When I fit the new door I was thinking of using rising butt hinges to allow me to fit a thicker carpet...

    Bathroom lighting

The house I have moved into has a four spolight fitting in the bathroom which is way too bright and looks the worst for wear anyway. My question is can a normal pendant light fitting be used in bathrooms so that I can put an energy saving bulb in. This might sound a silly question but when I...

Have been looking online at various ladder stabilisers for uneven ground. Has anybody any experience with the rubber mat type that go under the ladder or the small stabiliser legs that stand off the rear of the ladder. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

    Vaillant Boilers

Thanks for the reply. Dont mind paying more even though I'm on a tight budget. Was more concerned with quality. I have also noticed on the Vaillant site that the Ecotec only gets a one year warranty whereas the Ecomax gets two years. That will be the one I will go for.

I am in process of changing radiators and water pipework for a new heating system. The only thing that will be changing is the boiler location (Back boiler to combi in airing cupboard).
