    Cellar damp/ mould issue

The waste pipe for the sink was leaking causing the water on the outside on the photos. Fixed that but still have approx 2l every day from the dehumidifier. Seems very strange as it's been so dry.

Old stiff tap and wrong bit moving?

Hi Probably a quick and easy question for someone who knows.... Basically outside tap is very low pressure. Traced pipes back to just above stop cock. There is a isolation tap solely for the outside tap. It's very stiff and will move about a quarter of a turn. The only part that moves is the...

Fixed price but builder demanding extra money

Hi Yes asked him to block up the door. No further details discussed except a general "make good and decorate". As we removed a wall there was now 2 doors into the same room about 50cm apart. I was expecting both sides to be blocked up. The TV bracket was just attaching to the wall and...

Builder increasing prices at the end of a project

Hi Thanks for the replies. Regarding the door, I was expecting both sides to be blocked up under the agreed works of blocking up a door. I guess there is some ambiguity as far as I didn't specify both sides but I would have tought that was fairly obvious. Is this unreasonable? I have the same...

Thanks for the reply. Excuse my ignorance. I can manage removing the handle. Does the locking system simply unscrew or is it more complicated than that. Thanks

UPVC window not locking as shoot bolts not moving

Hi I have a UPVC window that does not lock. The handle moves and I can hear clicking behind the handle but she shoot bolts do not move which I assume means they don't engage the locking points and I assume the window pushed open as a result. What is likely to be the issue and is it easy to...

Strengthening / reinforcing new brickwork garden wall

Hi. Thanks that sounds good advice. I can do that. There are 2 trees on the inside. 1 is dead, the other I will get rid of the same time as re-building so hopefully that will resolve that as the "root" cause. When rebuiding how can I ensure the wall is as strong with the reinforcing. I want to...

Strengthening / reinforcing new brickwork garden wall

Hi My block garden wall is unstable. As a result I am having it knocked down and rebuilt. I want to reinforce it properly to ensure this time it is sound. Would something like this every other horizontal and vertical mortor run help or is there anything better I can use? Also is the second...

Possible little old lady being ripped off

Yes exactly my concern hence this post. To me, £10,000 just for sound proofing 2 small flats sounds too expensive, but I am no expert.
