    Electric Shower replacement

I have a Triton T60si that I’m looking to replace as it’s leaking a bit from the bottom. I see there’s an “easy fit” triton available which I was thinking about, are these recommended? Reviews seem a bit variable but thought it might make it possible as a DIY, non plumber fit. I want one that...

    Ring Doorbell install question

Hi I’ve got a new wireless/battery ring doorbell and wondered if it’s ok to put it on the actual door itself? The door is wood so would be the easiest place to attach it. Or is there a reason not to? Current doorbell is on the harling just to side of the door like normal but that makes it...

    Electric Fire Install Question

Thank you for your replies, I now have the fire and bought a socket to attach to the wire. The wire I think has 1mm2 on it, does that sound thick enough? Pics below The fuse in the socket outside the fire was a 3amp. I’ve been told I should get a 10amp for that, does that sound right?

Wondering if someone could help! I’ve had an inset gas fire removed, gas capped etc. There is a switch beside the fireplace that was for the igniter, and the wire is still in the opening. Can I add a stocket to this wire to plug a new electric fire into so that can then be the switch for...

    Blocking gas fire vent

I’m not sure, there is a gas fire in situ and a draft, on the outside what looks like a vent/flu cover. I assumed an electric fire wouldn’t need this? It’s not like an air brick

    Blocking gas fire vent

I’m getting my gas fire pipes capped off soon and will be replacing the fire with an electric one. The main reason for this is the draft that comes in through the vent behind the fire is really bad in winter. Is it just a case of bricking up the hole where the vent goes outside? Or do I have to...

    Mortar for coping and paving

Thanks that’s what I’m thinking as I’ve effectively created a foundation for the back part of the slab to sit on, rather than just the earth where i would use sharp sand

    Mortar for coping and paving

I’m about to attach 300mm paving along a small wall, single brick thick, which is retaining the lawn behind it. So the paving will be like coping stones on the wall, but paving on the earth behind the wall. I’ve put a channel of concrete behind the wall to prevent the paving sinking if it gets...

    Ideas for low retaining wall

I’m in the process of levelling my garden before putting down turf. It was covered in slabs and stones, but have got rid of these and so far 3 skip fulls of earth. So as part of levelling I have had to lower the back of the garden and have created a step down/retaining wall. The blocks aren’t...

    Draughty window help

We have just moved our baby daughter into her own room and have found the windows to be incredibly cold and draughty. Looking at them the top seems to sit about a centimetre out from the frame, but the bottom is a tighter fit. Obviously the cold air is coming in this gap. Can the windows be...
