Taking a feed from the cold tank (for shower pump)

Thanks Andy, I hoped it would be that simple! I think i have an old redundant run back to the bathroom to run the new 22mm cold pipe, so shouldn't be that difficult. I still may replace the tank if it is not big enough to support a long shower. What size do i need ideally? The hot already...

150mm floor tiles - what size spacers please?

I am about to tile a bathroom floor and was wondering what would look best / what is the usual practice, on 150 mm sq tiles? 4mm or 2mm spacers? (obviously grouted in!!) The tiles are black and was planning to use dark grey grout. Thanks as usual.

Taking a feed from the cold tank (for shower pump)

Thanks to some good advice i received on here, I am planning to install a dual feed shower pump. To do this i need to provide a cold feed that comes from the cold tank. This does not exist at the moment. As far as i know, i only have one cold feed leaving the tank that goes to my cylinder. How...

What shower system should i install please

Thanks mate. That has helped a great deal. I like the sound of the single impeller pump. This will be easier/quicker/cheaper to install than running pipes from the loft (CWSC). But i think i would probably get better results if i did use the cold tank. My mains pressure with no other demand...

    New consumer unit / mice

Hello, My latest project house has old cartridge fuse box. I found that the mice have eaten a lot of the wiring. I think the mice are gone now (i am dealing with it), but i am worried about future mice causing a fire, due to eating the electrics. If I replace the consumer unit with a modern RCD...

convert a angled TRV to straight?

Thanks for the help, but I was hoping to be able buy just the valve; so that I could save some money. By the time I bought a whole new pack iv spent another £35.22 (Screwfix part 41410). Then I also have £30 pounds of angled valves that I dont need! I havnt asked about an exchange because the...

convert a angled TRV to straight?

I bought a towel rail which came with Drayton TRV's. The TRVs are angled and i need straight ones! (company has left me in a right fix!) Does anyone know of a cheap way of solving this? I was wondering if it was possible to only buy the actual valve fitting and reuse the rest of the pack I...

    a tile trim question..

Using tile trim around a window. The tiles going up to the window are not whole tiles. Which way round should the trim be put? Should the edge that takes the tile be in the reveal or on the wall? (In my case it would work better on the wall as it would hide the cut edge, but it just does...

My 2.5yr old has written on my new white UPVC door with black permanent marker!! I have tried to remove it with hot soapy water, neat bleach & Cif kitchen cleaner but it has only gone to a lighter mark!! Any ideas on what I can use to try and remove it?

    Dual flush valve is banging

Well ok then, it is a thump more than a bang. It is quite loud and bordering on unacceptable - with babies asleep next door. It must be the spring inside as it snaps shut. Its way too violent. You can feel the kick on the unit that houses the cistern. However, i have taken it out and it...

confused about clearance under bath / bath panel

Thanks for the help. One possible complication: Bathroom is on first floor. Waste out of the wall comes out just above the extension. Waste pipe is coming through flush with the flat roof. (i am saying this, to explain that I cant lower the waste pipe). If I lower the trap, then the out...

confused about clearance under bath / bath panel

just put down 18mm WBP. I could cut a hole for the trap, but i was hoping there would be a simpler answer. These baths (from major DIY store) must be designed to take a trap etc.

confused about clearance under bath / bath panel

Hello there, I am refitting my bathroom. I have a P shaped bath with long side panel. When we positioned the bath, we had adjusted the legs so that it just accomodated the bottle trap above the floor, but now the height of the bath is 60mm higher than the bath panel. I can lose 10mm from...
