    dremel safety

Is it enough just to wear some eye goggles, face mask, and maybe workman gloves while using a dremel for cutting metal or do you need to go the full face mask? Was reading a few threads and occasionally you'd see one where the user said the cutting/sanding tool "blew up" in front of them. Not...

    rusted flynuts on toilet ?!

as a side note, I can't see the bolts that these nuts are attached to, i.e. the bolt isn't on the inside of the cistern ? How is it attached ?

    rusted flynuts on toilet ?!

it's already isolated and the cistern drained. Guys, this is impossible !!!!!!     Sawing throught the nut and still not even a third of the way. I'm not even sure I'll get all of the nut once done because of the angle I have to saw at. Eurgh......

    rusted flynuts on toilet ?!

Yeah, I need to replace the doughnut. I'm not sure I can even get a junior hacksaw in there. With one of the fly nuts, it won't even turn. When you turn it, the whole bolt turns with it !!!!!! Any other options ? Maybe a mini hacksaw without the square metal frame on top ?

    rusted flynuts on toilet ?!

Right...onto the next set of problems. I need to separate the 2 parts of the toilet but: (a) one of the flynuts on the bottom is severly rusted and broke when I tried to turn it with a spanner ! (b) one of the flathead screws used to secure the cistern to the wall won't move as...

cut round pipe and replace with iso valve

Right managed to remove this and attach the new flexi. All seems fine and the iso valve works correctly. There was a sort of raised bulb on the copper pipe a few mm down from its cut end, which meant that I couldn't push the nut further down the pipe than that point. Any problems with this...

how to tighten nut round pipe ????

Here's a pic of the flexible pipe plus olive/nut combo: I've put the olive/nut on the cut end of the copper pipe and I then attach the threaded flex pipe to it and hand tighten. When I try to tighten with a spanner the flex pipe keeps turning as there is nothing on it to hold it firmlike...

cut round pipe and replace with iso valve

actually, that will work with the 30 so I'll try that. BTW, this bit here: seems to be hard to get loose. I assume it's a compression fit? The new flexible pipe has a compression fit to go round a 15mm copper pipe but I'll have to take this nut off first won't I ?

cut round pipe and replace with iso valve

This pipe leads to the inlet to the toilet. I need to cut the pipe off so that I can replace it with a flexible pipe (w. iso valve) only it is a bit difficult to get to the pipe as it is on close proximity to the wall. Alternatively, if I could find a short flexible pipe I suppose I could just...

    removing sealant?

Couple of things: 1/ The sealant round the bath has mould on it and I have tried spraying it with a bleach based solution but it's not going. I guess I'm going to have to cut the sealant out? Is there a best way of going about this so as to get all the selant off? 2/ The toilet has a bad...

    grout round plug

Where I have cut tiles to fit around a socket, should I grout in the gaps or use some silicone selant instead (it's waterproof grout). ...or both ?

    power tool to cut tiles

Is there a jigsaw type tool to cut tiles with? I have a hand saw with carbide blade but it was a f-ing pain in the ass cutting tiles to fit round obstacles. If it's cheap enough then it gives me an excuse to buy another power tool.

took off tiles - sand down ?

right, on the back of this, there is now a small amount of left over adhesive on the wall just above the top of the tiles. Is it okay to sand this down so I can then paint the wall and up to the top of the tiles.
