Thanks for the reply John Unfortunately only one door, no separate entrance. I do also intend to get either side garage bolts or a "garage defender" but would like to sort the current lock out in the interim. So, is it best to buy longer rods or just extend the plate which the locks...

    Efflorescence

Hi Over the last few months our 12 year old house has just developed efflorescence in the porch (left hand wall and underneath the door). Is this presence of water / moisture in the brickwork? I'm Hoping that this is due to the longish periods of snow we've over the last few months and not...

looking for surround sound home cinema system

The Sony BDV 950 has a bluray built in. This is an "all-in-one" system. If you don't want to connect any other devices then this should suit your requirements.

looking for surround sound home cinema system

The type of surround system you need depends on what other devices you want to connect to it. For example, if you only want surround sound from a bluray and the TV then a "all-in-one" system maybe be suitable. However, these "all-in-one" systems are very limited on connectivity. The minute...

Cavity Wall Insulation and Thermal blocks

Thanks for the reply. He told me that the insulation gets caught up on the thin layer of insulation that is stuck to the thermal block. Said this does not allow the CWI to fall as it should and creates voids / pockets where there is no insulation. This creates cold spots and this is when damp...

Sorry, I was gong to add that but forgot after all my typing. It was built in 2001. Brick built detached, think it was built by McAlpine.

What is the depth of a standard cavity in a cavity wall.

Hi guys I am trying to measure where I can drill from the loft so that I can feed a co-ax cable down the space between the plasterboard and the blockwork. I have a reference point in the loft as the coax from the outside aerial enters the loft from the gable end. I know the bricks are...

    Potterton Suprima 50L

I had the same problem. The valve was ok, I could freely manually move the lever on the 3 port valve. I replaced the motor (about £10 and a 2 min job) and it worked 100% thereafter.
