Triton Shower - loss of pressure when hot

Have a Triton shower, about 2 years old, cheap model. It's started to massively lose pressure, to the point it's unusable at a hot temperature, where it was fine before. To get a decent pressure to shower & rinse hair, we're having to lower the temperature to nearly cold. A good way to wake up...

    Cheapest shed base?

I'm buying a 10x5 shed but need to prep a base this week really. What's the cheapest? Ballast & concrete, slabs, or ecobase & gravel? I can't seem to fathom out which works out better! Obviously cost aside ecobase is the easiest but I don't know if it will be strong like concrete.

    Wet skirting... again

In around April/May last year I gutted out an outbuilding, it was quite damp at the time, I used it as a shed. Needed storage for my things as I needed to move in with family, also for my cat to live in there. I quickly replaced any skirting that was rotten etc. Just made it barely habitable...

    Friendly advice / guidance

After having a family war this evening about this subject, I thought I'd bring it to the forum for some advice. I currently have nowhere to live after a horrendous split. I own a house but my sister is living in the house with her partner (paying my mortgage). I can't afford to live on my...

    Getting water supply to outbuilding?

Have an outbuilding I have turned into a functional office space. I am slowly improving it. What I'd really like is to have a toilet in there. How viable would it be to have this installed? The outbuilding is about 20 feet from the main house. Would it be a ridiculously big job? I think it would...

    Wood burning stove?

I want to install a wood burning stove in an outbuilding, where currently my cats are living, but after that it will be a "den" or second living room if you like. I need heating in there that isn't going to cost a fortune. I thought a stove would be good because it can be left unattended...

Options for small landing space with painted stairs?

I ripped up the carpet on the stairs which I'm going to sand & paint. However the top of the stairs is awkward (large gaps & uneven). The floor boards aren't particularly nice to look at. I'm not sure what to do to give a decent finish. Any ideas guys?

    Chips in tile paint

An old bathroom decor has chips out of the tile paint. I can't really afford to gut the bathroom until next year or so, but want to spruce it up. If I paint over the tile paint, where there are chips, it's going to be seen. Do you think it's possible to smooth down the chips? Or will I need...

New toilet specification? What to look for...

Current toilet has been having hiccups for years & I've been able to patch it up here & there. Now it's leaking from the flush handle hole as the cistern is filling up too high. I think it's time to replace. I want to do it cheaply, as I want to replace/refit the whole bathroom in a year or...

    Stones in plastering sand

I've done some rendering & need to do the top finishing coat (it was patching large holes. However in the sand from B&Q there are small stones! Not many... Maybe 10-12 in a half bucket mix, but it is annoying... Ideas? Does sand come without the stones......???

Not sure what would be best here. Mess after porch taken off

Had to pull down a large porch on the side of my house as it was rotten & leaking all over the place. This is what was there before (complete with blue tarp to stop water getting in): Then we ripped it down...! Created a feather-edge fence for the new gap & put a new...

    Patching outdoor rendering

I've recently renovated the inside of an outbuilding to purpose it for storage and my cats to live in while I temporarily live with my Mum. There was a massive damp problem in the building, which I've tried to combat. However there is a lot of damage to the exterior render, which can't be...

    Leaky tap

Looking for advice. I have a leaky tap, but I can't really tell where the leaking is coming from. Whether it's the tap itself of the pipes beneath. Any ideas where it's most likely coming from? I *think* it's from the base of the tap which connects to the work surface. I don't want to...

Chances of planning permission on something like this?

We are planning an extension on the back of our house (green area pictured below). Don't have plans/permission yet, but next door had the same idea & theirs went through fine. We have a brick built external building in our garden & don't know what the hell to do with it!!! We planned to turn...

Door problems on external building (block up? convert?)

We currently have an external garage type building in our back garden. The previous owner was an avid carpenter & used it as a workshop, hence the workshop-esque look about it. Neither my husband or I have any interest in woodwork, and so we're currently using it as a shed basically. But at...
