Cracks along joins of painted lining paper

Those little cracks can be a real pain to rectify , gently trying to lift the joints and get some emulsion under them as an adhesive, sometimes this works! but can make them swell even more and cause overlap in some cases. If you can lift the joint get some paint under squeeze the excess out...

    black mould just keeps coming

Sounds like your going to do a good job by removing the old plaster and starting again. mould can occur on cold walls if furniture is standing against them, it can even appear behind curtains! keep the wall clear if you can! and always ensure good daily ventilation.

Hi on the subject of warmline and the reason paper wont stick! warmline is not an absorbent surface, it appears to be porous but isn't. lining paper will not stick to it and in some cases Ive seen it tear the warmline apart as the lining dries! i have managed to stick fresco blown vinyl over...

wash nicotin stained ceilings before priming????

One way to solve this is to use a quick drying paint as some previous posts mention, try acrylic eggshell as it dries superfast! you still need to wash down surfaces, silk and gloss finishes this is easy but vinyl matt absorbs nicotine deep into the finish and is nigh on impossible to wash down...

    Cutting Wallpaper

if you struggle to get a straight cut try marking the paper with a very sharp pencil to get a fine line to follow with the scissors, aim to cut the line off but stick to the line at all times ,sharp paperhanging scissors are a must and keep the blades clean from excess paste before each length...

    Loose edges

best way to deal with this is not to try putting paste under the loose edge at the painting stage! just peel back the loose edge and brush the emulsion paint underneath let it soak a short while then press it back the paint is a very efficient adhesive. hope this helps,

    Satinwood on architraves

I'm pretty sure that most decs will agree with me that you are doing everything right so far. it is just the nature of water based paint products that the brush mark problem is common in gloss finishes and satin! even if you were painting glass!! the brush marks would show! you could try...

    new artex splitting and cracking

hi i used to do a lot of artex in the late eighties when it was a very popular choice! however i dont recall using pva as a primer sealer, we used the artex primer sealer which was similar to a silk emulsion finish, this was left to dry, and then slap the artex on. i think you may have...

What is this on my wall?

hi had a close look at your pics, it looks to me like the remnants of an old glazed paint effect common in older houses, the marks that seem geometric are from a later wallpaper stuck over the glaze it has simply transfered onto the surface! some old wallpapers had an almost ink type print in...
