There really isn't a correct answer here...... it depends on the immersion you are using if it's a direct cylinder, and depends on the heat input of the applance you're using if it's indirect (I assume we're taking gas???)....... It's probably cheaper to do it indirectly with gas too...

Hi a thermistor works based on resistance. the higher the temp of the water the greater the resistance across the thermistor, thus modulating the burner down to maintain a constant temp. In essence the thermistor resistance could be higher than it should be, in effect telling the boiler...
