How to get rid of ugly bricks on front of house

Basically everything about them. Maybe over the front reception room, but not in the garage! Sometimes when buying a house in London you can't be picky. The house is fine inside. This house was built between two others which are not alike. This road was badly bombed in the war so there...

How to get rid of ugly bricks on front of house

I currently own a chalet bungalow which is primarily concrete and standard red bricks. Unfortunately the front of the house has some weird bricks that are pretty ugly. From inside the garage you can see that the bricks have nothing behind them, and they're only a couple of inches thick so I'm...

    Cooker on terminal block

Hi there, I recently had my gas engineer install my Rangemaster cooker, and figured I would do the electric connection myself since the old oven was also electric and I could just change the connection in the switch on the wall. The old wire went behind the plasterboard/tiles and the cable...

    Are these pipes too low?

He has raised the pipes. He's not finished yet, I'll update when it's done!

    Are these pipes too low?

I've just moved into a new house and I'm in the middle of having central heating fitted. The plumber has laid the pipes very low. My father in law just came around and said that we'll struggle to get the carpets changed (which we are planning on doing very soon). Do these look too low? Am...

    Mould in spare room

I am planning on fitting an extractor fan to the bathroom, and central heating will be fitted in the next few weeks, but I still need to figure out how to deal with the damage so far and stop it happening further.

    Mould in spare room

I recently moved into a two bedroom chalet bungalow, and discovered that our north facing spare room has a massive mould problem. We don't have central heating yet and the room is next to the bathroom, so it gets quite cold and presumably damp. Our windows do not lock open and we shower...

How do I use this waste pipe for a washing machine?

It's more likely that I'm doing it wrong :D I'll try again tonight.

How do I use this waste pipe for a washing machine?

My last post doesn't make much sense because you changed yours :) If I cut the plastic, how will that make it easier to attach a thread? I'm confused.

How do I use this waste pipe for a washing machine?

The trap is, but the valve is not (as far as I can tell). I tried attaching the valve to the waste pipe and it didn't "grip" like the trap did. It has a thread so I can't see how it could grip. But the trap has a thick rubber seal which gripped the waste pipe nicely.

How do I use this waste pipe for a washing machine?

I went for it, and bought a pipe and non-return value from Screwfix (which is a little bit closer to my house) Pipe: http://www.screwfix.com/p/washing-machine-trap-40mm/18640 NRV: http://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-t28m-nrv-40mm-non-return-valve-white/61561 I couldn't figure out how to...

How do I use this waste pipe for a washing machine?

In my garage there is a waste pipe going into the soil stack, and I'd like to connect my washing machine there. Am I going to get raw sewage backing up into the machine? Presumably I need to get some kind of U bend pipe. I found this on Wickes: http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/431915...

Mira 88 Gem or Mira 415 Combiforce?

Thanks for the advice :) I just ordered the Combiforce. Looking forward to a good shower!

Mira 88 Gem or Mira 415 Combiforce?

Not sure what the system is - we have a combi boiler in the conservatory and the shower is on the first floor. There's no tank.

Mira 88 Gem or Mira 415 Combiforce?

After weighing up options for a new shower for months and getting fed up with sticky conditionery hair, I've decided I'm just going to get a mixer shower and be happy. It's bound to be 10x better than our crappy Triton electric shower. Mira showers seem to look quite nice so I've been looking...

Getting rid of electric shower, what alternative?

johnsville: No - we can't get a new mains pipe. Plus next door's water is just as bad as ours so I don't think that will help. How will a cold water accumulator cylinder help the pressure issues? Surely the water will just sit in a tank instead? seco: I've been looking at the salamander ESP...

Getting rid of electric shower, what alternative?

The issue is the pressure. In the mornings the electric shower is unusable but in the evenings it is often perfect. We often end up sitting in the bath with a hose attachment because the combi boiler is much better at coping with the lower pressure. We could hook up a mixer shower to the...

Getting rid of electric shower, what alternative?

That's actually a very good idea. Not sure why I didn't think of that. So essentially I could leave the shower fitted as it is, and just add a cold water tank between the water supply and the shower?

Getting rid of electric shower, what alternative?

Thanks for your reply. I'm trying to work out how much this is going to cost. I've looked around for these tanks but I don't know what I should go for. I'd like to be able to get at least 30 mins of hot water in the shower before the tank empties. A pump would be good but I realise that it...

Getting rid of electric shower, what alternative?

I have a combi boiler and an electric shower. There's never enough pressure in the mornings for the electric shower to work properly so we end up being frustrated and annoyed. Standing in a cold shower with no pressure isn't the best start to the day :) So we want to change things. The...
