    Smoking regulations!!!

Under 'normal' cicumstances I would do this but my neighbours are an older couple with whom relations are a little strained!!!!! They would not consider an extension unless they had to. Do you know of the building regs. relating to this problem??? Thanks for the response.

    Smoking regulations!!!

I live in a beautiful old Lake District stone house...so does my 'attached' neighbour. Their house has a much lower roof line and much lower chimney stack. The top of their stack is very close to the bottom of our pitched slate roof....hence when they light a fire our house fills with the smell...

    Sani-overflo!

My Saniflo Plus macerator died on me this morning..... Luckily it was sink waste that poured out of the top of the unit!........the leak is coming from all around the seal where the 'lid' part joins to the base of the unit. Was also making an odd noise. The toilet is rarely used (mainly shower...

Hi, I have a similar dillema....beautiful exposed stone but impossible to clean! Water and a scrubbing brush didn't work for me...(looked great whilst still wet but dried all dusty again!). Am planning on exposing more stone so would welcome any tips you may have. Thanks

How to remove old back boiler

I have just removed a gas fire in my victorial house hoping to open up the original fireplace. Have discovered what must be an original back boiler (copper looking). Two pipes feed up the flue from the boiler. I know nothing about back bolier only that I want to take this one out! Any advice...

    Dishwasher dillema

I am moving my existing kitchen to another room in my house but am unsure how the dishwasher 'waste' water pipe should be connected. The dishwasher is too far away to fix it to the sink trap (unless I extend the pipe by about a meter and then it'll be visible between units). Is there any way of...

    Replacing random coloured tiles

I have a shower room which is tiled with white tiles and a random 'splatter' of an unpleasant blue ones! (About 16 in total and one of them is half covered by the electric shower unit). Is it easy enough to remove and replace these without damage to others? They look a standard size....nothing...

How do I clean limestone wall

I have just knocked off the plaster from an alcove to expose the limestone wall behind. The stone however is very 'dusty' and I can't seem to clean it. Any tips? I've tried scrubbing with a brush....looks great when still wet but drys off the same! Also, is there anything I can seal it with when...

    200yr old uneven floor!

I am hoping to move my kitchen into a room in my house with a very uneven timber floor. What's the best way to level it enough to either tile or laminate over it?? (Alternatively I'd love to restore and keep the original floorboards but they're covered in an ancient lino stuck down with some...

    Macerators?

I am buying a house with an en suite that has a macerator en-suite. Does anyone have any experience of these. Noise? Blockages? Am unfamiliar with them so a bit of a sceptic. :?

    Buzzed off!

I have two 12V halogen ceiling light fittings in my kitchen. One of the fittings (which has three bulbs) started to buzz, dim and has finally gone out completely. The other fitting (on the same switch) is still on and seemingly fine. Is it safe to keep using it.......could it be a problem with...
