How to fix wall behind broken tile

Hi all, Hoping you can help. I’ve been tiling my shower and was ready to grout before putting a massive scratch on one of the tiles. I went to remove the tile but it’s taken the tanking and some of the cement board with it. As it’s in a shower, I want to do what I can to make sure it’s not going...

How long after screed to lay shower tray.

Hi, I have just poured some Mapei Ultraplan 3240 self leveller down to level the floor prior to fitting a shower tray. It says that it is walkable after 4-5 hours, does that mean I can install the shower tray after 4-5 hours or do I have to wait for the leveller fully cure first? Thank you!

    Door corner sticking out

Hi @opps, thanks for the message. The butt hinges on the cabinet doors at the bottom are more there for effect than anything else. The door itself was the problem and had space for the hinges routed out which turned out to be the problem, one was too deep. I added a spacer in the top hinge on...

    Door corner sticking out

You can push the corner in yes. The door itself is really light. I even took the cabinet doors off to check if it’s warped but no dice

    Door corner sticking out

Photo is only the bottom half of the door. It’s fine at the top corner but the bottom corner sticks out so the gap gets bigger as you go down the door

    Door corner sticking out

Hi all, Really hoping you can help. I have attempted to build a “secret bookcase” door for my daughter. The door itself I’m happy with but despite hanging it three times, the bottom corner on the opposite side of the hinge side, sticks out by about 4cm when I close the door. Everything is plumb...

    aquapanel and foam adhesive

when you say screw to the wall, am i right in saying that I can just use plugs and screws onto the masonry? I dont have space for battening out unfortunately and the wall is a bit wobbly so was hoping that foam would do the trick. Or foam with a couple of fixings just to keep it in place?

    aquapanel and foam adhesive

I have a shower enclosure that I plan to board with AquaPanel. The walls are brick and i dont have space to batten it out. Is there anything wrong with using a foam adhesive like DRYFIX or similar? I've used it for normal plasterboard but these sheets are 1220x800n and weigh in at 11kg a go so...

HELP, ceiling doesn’t look like it’s attached to anything.

Hi, It shares a centre wall with next door yes. It looks like the purlin is supported in the brick wall on either side. I’ve now removed all ceiling joists as they weren’t supporting anything and have started building a new frame so looks like all sorted. Thanks For your help.

HELP, ceiling doesn’t look like it’s attached to anything.

Ok update, the first two joists were held in with one nail against the rafter and left balancing on the wall on the other side. There seems to be a structure already built to hold up the roof (see attachment), so am I right in saying that these joists are purely for holding up ceiling and if so...

HELP, ceiling doesn’t look like it’s attached to anything.

Hi all, So I have an not level ceiling so today I planned on removing it, sistering joists to straighten it up and then plasterboarding. The ceiling is lath and plaster that has since been over boarded, so a lot to come down. So here I was in the attic trying to kick the ceiling down and then...

    cutting a shower door

Joists run from left to right on the picture, in parallel to the longest wall. The room below is a kitchen and since there is a lean-to roof on the external wall about a foot below floor level so going into the room below isn't an option. the wall the toilet is against is a brick wall seperating...

    cutting a shower door

Thanks @robinbanks, here is a drawing. I'm planning for the shower to be against the external wall. So i need to get the waste from the toilet, through the shower area, to the outside. Only other thing i can think of is to get a macerator and run the smaller waste pipe below the floor, but...

    bathroom venting through a chimney

Hi all, Im turning my back bedroom into a bathroom and been scratching my head around how to get an extractor vent in as the external wall is over a lean-to roof and pebble dashed. The room used to have a chimney breast in it which has been removed by the previous owners, the chimney stack in...
