    grant for new boiler

My old central heating/hot water boiler has gone kaput and I accepted a quote from a local firm to update with a Combi. Being over 70 I discovered I qualified for a £300 Grant but when I asked the fitter if they could accept this £300 voucher (from Warmfront) he said as they will charge him...

    Cold water washing machines

As you seem to only be able to buy cold water filling washing machines these days and most people usually have a tank full of hot water, is it OK to connect the machine to the hot water supply?

    Matsui hob

I've got myself a Matsui Vitroceramic Hob with touch controls which works OK and I'm quite happy with it. However, when I clean it after use it flashes an "F" for a few seconds. There is no mention in the instructions about this "F". Does anybody know what it means? Thanks, pete.

    Recycling

Whilst I recycle at home as instructed, I believe it is uneconomic and I can't see any real benefit to the enviroment. What is wrong with Landfill? Probably several of you in the past fifty years have travelled by train on the main line from Scotland to Kings Cross. A mile or so south of...

    Solar garden lights.

I've had some solar lights in the garden for around three years now and the batteries are starting to fail. The batteries installed at the moment are 1.2v 6oo mAh, but have some 1.2v 2100 mAh. Would there be any detrimental effect if I used these?

    Dyson DC04

I've a broken lead to the switch on my Dyson DC04 (mains side). On my old Dyson (DC01), access to the switch was fairly easy, but on this one the switch seems to have to slide out but it is not happening & I don't want to force in case I'm going about it the wrong way. Can anyone point me in...
