    Grout starting to crack already

I replaced some tiles and stuck them down and re-grouted with "fix and grout" that comes in a tube. It acts as adhesive and grout.I did this a week before Christmas and already cracks in the grout are showing as if shrinking. Do I just keep re-filling/skimming or is this type of grout in a tube...

    Leaking shower into floor joist

It's a bit soft and spongy the very top layer but further back seems ok. I will have to get the bath out for further inspection. It's happened in the last few weeks as we have been without a shower for a long time until we had a new one installed. Not sure what you mean by "water hammer"...

In the meantime what would you suggest I do to stop water running down before I set to after Christmas as we need to use the shower?

    Leaking shower into floor joist

Thanks Jon. It's something I need to do but after Christmas I think. The whole bathroom tiles need to come off too but one step at a time. Will keep the bath but new taps will make it look good again. Some of those pipes under the bath cannot be removed as they are central heating. Also, would...

    Leaking shower into floor joist

Ok, this is a messy job as we inherited it from the previous owners (he thought himself a top DIY/Builder) Had a new shower installed a few weeks ago but by chance I was looking under the bath to see how I could patch up the flooring (the bathroom gets very draughty) and I can see part of the...

Heatline clockwork timer switch loose and failing

Because when we get warm enough we can turn it off from the room we are in rather than getting up and re-setting the small back timer slots to on and off so boiler isn't constantly on.

Heatline clockwork timer switch loose and failing

The switch position on my Heatline C-24 boiler has become quite loose and won't stay in position anymore hence failing to come on when set on timer. As it is fully manual I am having to keep the switch in position with blu tak but that gets soft and moves when the boiler is on. Is there any way...

    Black Mold

I found this mess after clearing a bedroom cupboard. The house and outside wall is not damp as we have a dehumidifier. Any idea how to prevent this ? It's a mystery why it happens as the room is dry.

How to cover this mess when laying wooden flooring.

Thanks. I wanted to avoid moving the WC really as I had a heck of a time getting a new soil pipe on but if I have to I will find a way. The wood panelling is fine. Been there 17 years of our time here and was installed before that.I am not sure weather to go up to the skirting or under it...

    Replacement Handles

Our old bathroom window no longer seals shut because one handle is broken and the other completely missing. I can just about close it using the sheared off handle but there is a gap. sometimes there is a click and it seals (if I slam it but then grains of mortar fall down making dust) , but most...

Replace all or patch up ?

Ok, I have never tiled but am willing to have a go if possible. Basicly, the tiles we inherited with this house are looking shabby, cracked and patterns we don't like. I want to replace the cracked (as you can see they have all cracked badly around the window sill), the ones with patterns on...
