Point taken Tony, thanks. Thanks to Nige as well. You're right we wish to carry out some plumbing but only in our own houses, so mistakes will not be the end of the world. As for the CORGI. Can you run me through the process to become registered? Pre-requisites, cost etc. Are you...

    Reactfast training

Haven't you been reading Tony? I have stated on numerous occasions that niether of us intends to become a plumber. However i don't think you need to get too upset. Althought there are people trying to take your job after only six weeks training, i'm sure your experience will hold up...

Cheers corgiman. I appreiciate your advice. Your concerns are founded, and i totally agree its a joke that you can train as a plumber in six weeks. As i have stated, we renovate houses and have no intention of attempting to work in other peoples homes. Whilst my friend attends this course...

    Consumer Units and IP ratings

Which regs cover the IP ratings of consumer units? Also, if a CU has a large knock out for the tails, whats the best way to seal it up?

ReWire to a 3 bed house and an outhouse. Comments plz.

The mcb is selected for the sole purpose of protecting the cable. Select the cable by calculating your design current, then look in your OSG and select a suitable mcb to protect that cable.

Can I or can I not test Voltage with it?

So you can get GS38 compliant volt testers that self test? This removes the need for a proving unit i presume?

Can I or can I not test Voltage with it?

So officially is everyone meant to have a voltage test lamp and proving device; then go around using them to check every accessory before it is worked on? Is this what the NICEIC inspector will expect if carrying out any work or testing? (i've got a fluke voltstick, i doubt this complies).
