    Kitchen floor problem

It looks like foundations to me but then I know not a lot. There are two bits of concrete (with a bit of a red colour to them) separated by a row of brickes in the middle, the left bit of concrete is really uneven and has a layer of grey concrete over it. This was under the screed when I broke...

    Kitchen floor problem

I am just about to start doing my kitchen but have a bit of a problem with the floor which I plan to tile. The kitchen has a little coal shed on the end of it that was extended into before I moved in. Everythings fine in it apart from the floor of it which had shifted so much that the concrete...

    QUESTION....concerning URLs

Sounds like DNS servers playing up. Contact your ISP and see if there are any problems related to their default DNS servers and ask them for alternatives (a DNS server translates the address you type into the address bar into the URL 123.123.123.3 etc and then goes and finds the page).

Sealing bath where it meets tiling.....

A plumber friend of mine said that a water spray bottle with washing up liquid is the best thing to use. Put the sealant on the area, spray the soapy water on it al (light spray) and rub, no need to wet finger as the soap stops the mastic from sticking to your hand, it also stops it fro...

    sewage smell

I have the same problem as above - I don't see this as hi-jacking as the thread died last year. (Lynda, moderator, that is why it IS hi-jacking) The problem is of sewer smells in downstairs kitchen, when upstairs toilet is used My problem is identical to the first post, my bathroom is...

    Belfast Sink Waste

Hi, A friend recently gave me an old Belfast sink, similar to, but a bit larger than this one: I've been looking for waste and plugs for it but can't see how any that I've seen will work because of the overflow outlet in the hole at the bottom. I would ideally like a basket strainer...

    Standard Combi or Condensing Combi

:p I'm not sure they asked you to explain yourself in such detail! Anyway, that sounds terrible. Wouldn't you make more money renting to a private tenant anyway?

Testing water pressure for new taps

So what I have should be k then? 2-3 bar plus possibly up to 1 bar or will the hot water be much lower than 1 bar?

Testing water pressure for new taps

Hi there, I am looking aroud for bath taps and have found some that state this on their website: "For optimum performance this range requires a high pressure water supply (1.0 bar)" How do I test this, the cold tap comes from the mains and the hot tap comes from an immersion heater/back...

    New bathroom

Hi again all, I am getting quotes in for fitting a new bathroom. What would be a reasonable price (obviously roughly) for replacing a toilet, basin and bath (bath taps to be moved to the opposite end) and installing an electric shower. I will be supplying all of these with taps, just need...

    Mounting box

Oh yeah....duh! [Edit:] Saying that, if there's a hole in the wall from one end to the other, with the mounting boxes back to back then there won't be anything for them to attach to meaning when the switches are screwed onto the mounts then they could just move in and out of the...

    Mounting box

Cheers guys, mainly crafty :) I got them off with pliers last night and all works fine now .... Adding to this, on the other side of the dimmer I fitted is another switch that I want to replace, the switches I want to use, as mentioned above have quite larger bits on the back so they need a...
