    Fensa and selling my house

Are you sure the doors etc have not got toughened glass already??? As for the bay it should of been fitted with supports inbetween the windows ask your guy who fitted the bay. Both of these i would expect as standard from the factory to be honest they should not be extras.

    Fensa and selling my house

The window 12" off the floor should be toughened, has the unit got any type of etching in one of the corners?? Fire escape hinges should allow the window to open a full 45 degrees rather than say 30 degrees which some standard hinges will do. You can simply swap the hinges why all hinges dont...

    Fensa and selling my house

Sounds like someones winding you up to me :D They have only ever visually checked the jobs i've put through them, main points were safety glass where required and fire escape hinges on bedroom windows. I'm guessing the units will be up to spec as they are recently made up and should comply...

double glazed units in wooden sash windows

Im not a fan of secondary glazing its a chore every time you want to open a window and extra glass to clean, worst of all it detracts from the appearance of what are features of a house if you are lucky enough to have them box sash windows. Draught proofing is discreet and effective and when...

double glazed units in wooden sash windows

Double glazed sashes would cost you around £500 a pair i should think you have to allow for the joinery-glass and lead weights to counter balance. Have you thought about draught-proofing its much more cost effective and to double glaze without draught-proofing would be a wasted effort in my...

    Euro Cylinder Recommendations

just my opinion but i have never met anyone who was broken into because of poor quality cylinders, your average crook would crow bar your whole door and frame out before picking or drilling your lock. I suppose you have to take notice of your insurance providers views on cylinders if they have...

    Bricking up under bay window?

Its done with timber and cladding to reduce the weight sitting on the window bay below, you may find the other houses have not been bricked then rendered more likely ply wood then render, adding more insulation would help.

    size windows

ahhh right, guessing were talking plastic here to get that in 1 piece would be awkward to handle you would need to rope it up the outside with at least 2 ropes and even unglazed it would weigh a bit, i see you are in hampshire so you could try a company called 7 day windows in camberley they are...

    size windows

Match the window to the rest of the house if you have pvc then go the same etc, remember you need openers for ventilation and timber will last 100+ years.

Replacement Pilking insulight DG unit etc

Measure the depth, height, width of the broken unit and phone around your local glaziers for quotes, as for removing them a stanley knife and a paint scraper should do the trick if you can get someone to help by pushing the unit outwards while you cut through the mastic and catch it. Work the...

Making/ Repairing A Small Casement Window For Downstairs Loo

Bear in mind that a full window replacement requires your local building controls to get involved, a repair does not. I no its only a small window but you should be aware. As for making the hinged casement it would involve some skilled joinery (mortice tenons etc) but the frame i'm sure you...
