    Restricting Young Drivers

Thats a hell of an assumption to make seeing as you know f all about me... your next comment I assume aimed at my comment was just as uniformed. Yes i think it I would be safe to say that most people, young, old or indifferent would say they drive well, as it happens I do have extra driving...

    Restricting Young Drivers

since you asked two, one was in a petrol station as I came back to my car a landrover reversed into the front end totaling the car (it was parked as normal, at one of end pumps - well out of the way) the other was driving as normal down a B road when someone didnt think to stop at the stop...

Bit of a read - opinions please

(*Wasn't sure where to put this -it's not really a question about specific diy field but it is about diy - sorry if its in the wrong place*) I thinking of getting an additional WC installed as my 3 bed only has the one bathroom, I want to sell mine after the house prices settle again but dont...

    Restricting Young Drivers

Another no from me, to be frank it's a rather stupid idea. I myself drive a fairly rapid car Do I recklessly speed? no, Am I an increased danger because of it? no I'm 22 with a clean licence and no crashes at my fault. I know i'm in the minority here of good young drivers but...

    Not your standard carpentry topic.....

very good points... about 200 X 150mm not sure on height but 150 sounds right, i was thinking of a simple flat lid using a couple of small butt hinges. Nothing fancy, i would hope if i got a good grain and the present inside will make up for it. It will house a couple of pots of zymol, so...

    Bathroom lights trip

i'll clear things up hopefully, yes all the light go out at once and they look to be pretty standard bathroom fitments. wiring wise the loft is partially borded so i will have to rip up some boards to try and get a look if thats what is called for. A moment all i can see is an unswitched...

    Not your standard carpentry topic.....

An unusual request so i'm not sure if i will get much help here, but got to give it a go... I'm looking to make from scratch, a presentation box, with very little practice at the subject. Basically its the old man's birthday in a few months, and as he is a carpenter at heart I think it...

platform / ladder decorating around stairs

I've decided to line and paint the hallway whilst i still have the old carpet down but will need a plaform / ladder to work over the stairs. Problem is I dont have a car and is will cost a fortune to deliver from the nearest diy place (and problems with being there for the delivery), there is...

    Bathroom lights trip

Just a quick (maybe stupid) question The bathroom halogen lights trip out, if left on for only an hour or so, then take a while to switch back on and have normal use. (3 X 40w spots fairly new by the looks of em) Been in the loft and removed the insulation away from the lamps to no...

    standard boiler service

Thanks for all the replies, sorry for my absence at least it has given me plenty to read! :) Will get boiler type written down when my shift finally ends, wouldn't mind getting some feedback on it as i have so little details apart from what written on the case. I hadn't seen BGs offer...

    re-using grippers and underlay

Thanks for the responces, It all looks fine, i will leave the grippers in place and try not to disturb the underlay as i work. I guess i will have to replace some as i will be chasing squeaky floorboards at the same time and i dont fancy picking bit of deteriated underlay up the whole time...

    National Lottery

I've often thought there would be space for another lottery, none of this lucky extra numbers or whatever they are. A national game with prizes capped at so-many thousand but a certain amount of money had to be won, e.g. a 200,000 prize, 150,000 etc etc but you didnt have to have all the...

    standard boiler service

thanks, I had checked the paperwork for it a while ago, but its still lost with my solicitors so thats why i posted. I've had other 'proffesionals' tell me that 'X' equipment wasn't safe and would require 'Y' part costing 'Z' amount untill i threw them out and got it re-checked -...

    re-using grippers and underlay

Going to replace some carpet which must have been down for about 4 years (?) - was there when we moved in but still looks fairly new. Getting it professionally fitted so wanted to know can we reuse the underlay and the grippers? Trying hard to save some cash as i'm going to be trying my...

    leaking taps !!

I had a similar experiance on the light pulls (of all things) went to replace them, and they where chock full of it! the worse thing was the strings where quite short anyway, so i had to desperatly tried to hack them off before reluctantly re-strung them. oh, for the simple jobs that go as...
