    re-re-skim coming off....again

sounds like the original guy failed to prepare the wall properly. pva is widely used by most spreads but wba, gypprime and thistle bond it are far superior products. although more costly. usually a good quality pva is sufficient if applied correctly (but you can get some crap pva), in my...

    Damp seal for rendering

TANK the wall. irregulare stone is hard to chemically inject, as you need to find the same level on both sides, so i would go for this. take wall back to brick @ 1.5m, treat for salt ingression. apply a thin, flat coat of render with waterproofer in it all the way to the floor. there...

    plasterboarding round steel lintel

i normally glue chocs of wood on the inside of the lintel and screw to them filling the spaces inbetween with rockwool. to sort the underneath out i use gripfill or something of the like.

Brunopel IWP is it still o.k

i have never used any of those products, but i am sure they will be fine. so long as you dont breach the dpc in any way you should be fine to render anytime also did you inject the outside wall on the same course?

Rotten plaster - dryline? skim? batten? insulate? Confusion!

In a nut shell dot and dab is faster and you can get reasonable results yourself. if you are getting a spread to do it then my personal preference would be sand and cement because it is more durable. if your spread leaves it anything other flat flat and smooth then dont pay him!! i...

Rotten plaster - dryline? skim? batten? insulate? Confusion!

i would also prefer the float and set method as rc suggests, it is a longer process but imo gives a superior longer lasting surface. if you are worried about the thermal properties of sand and cement v's plasterboard's then why not use a renovating plaster over a waterproof scratch coat? i...

    Rendering Guarantees

you render his house and he says his business partner is away and his walls are leaking? Did he explain how you are responsible for his walls leaking, having only rendered them? sounds fishy to me this one, one thing i know is that if he refuses to pay, rep or no rep that render would be...
