£2 limit to bus trips, so can I live without a car?

So internet tells me it costs £8 at the moment, would need to change at Welshpool, but it seems it only runs 3 times a day. So into Welshpool earliest 10:23 leave Welshpool latest 15:02 actually a train at 17:00 so next the next leg, to Shrewsbury. So, there is a bus 10:50 so 27 minutes seems OK, so 11:37 at Shrewsbury. So return 13:22 the next bus misses the connection by 8 minutes. I could catch the train with next bus, but either 52 minutes or 1 hour 50 minutes if using train, so for 1 hour 45 minutes in Shrewsbury it takes 3 hours 45 minutes travel and using the train even longer. And since in the main a steam train, does not really help the environment. By car 80 minutes return. So even if only £2 (likely £4 return) can't see me using the bus. Getting a hospitial appointment to tie in with those times seems unlikely.

Most bus journeys will be limited to £2, not all.
We may also find some non profitable journeys removed by the private bus companies.

A few years ago people were being encouraged to use public transport more often for short journeys where a car wasn't practical to go into busy city centers; clogging up car parks and roads whereby a bus can transport more people cheaply and effectively. Reducing the cost will be a step in the right direction in that regard.

Old house in North Wales bus from 6 am to 11 pm to Chester most of the day every ½ hour we could live without a car.

New house Mid-Wales, just 3 buses a day. From my town which is now little more than a village, to the nearest town of any size big enough to have supermarkets, is 8 miles, and just 3 buses a day, OK for me free, but so much time between them, they are of little use, and they mean any further afield is stopped by that service, which does not connect to buses going further afield.
