Possibly my stupid question of the day. Always dangerous to assume, however do we assume the 131k that have crossed into Russia are pro Ukraine invasion, or at the very least are comfortable enough with the notion of Ukraine being adopted back into the Russian fold?

people will flee a war zone if they think it reduces the risk of them and their family suffering a horrible death. They will probably not flee from friendly, unthreatening situations when a helpful non-violent foreigner has come to save them from oppression.
It would be rash to assume that they were moving to a particular foreign country because they always wanted to live there.
Maybe, but you should also consider that there was a period when they were being shelled; and the only 'safe' route out was east.

I agree with that and I've already said it.
Will you be doing any checks on the person(s) you take in? How would you know that you are not taking criminals? As with the boat people, those that come most readily to your attention will be the most pushy and aggressive, therefore not necessarily the most decent.

Regardless of anyone's views on x number of people coming in from the Ukraine, the law of averages says some of them won't be very nice. By that I don't necessary mean criminal, just not very nice. So there could be scenarios of some old wifey living in a large house doing the right thing and inviting a Ukrainian family to stay.
Fine, good for her.
Fast forward 5 years and, even though the old wifey might not be fully aware herself this has happened, the family through subtle manipulation and coercion are essentially living in said house as if it's theirs, with the old wifey practically consigned to living in her bedroom with en-suite.
Obviously this sort of scenario won't happen in many cases, but it will happen. If anyone thinks otherwise they're deluded.
And no, before you start greetin' at me, I don't think it's wrong to let people in. I'm just stating a fact. For example, if you go to a show in a theatre, let's say the auditorium holds 2000 people. Law of averages says there'll be at least one of almost all kinds sharing that space with you. Nice people, horrible people, criminals, wife beaters, husband beaters etc.

This Conservative govt has spent years increasing the wealth at the top and stagnation of wages at the bottom.
This govt spends its time making policies that benefit the rich and wealthy

We have got a left-wing government and it is of no benefit at all. State spending last year was the highest it has ever been; we are taxed to the hilt on everything; debt is 95% of GDP; we have closed down many of our power stations; every spare patch of green land in our villages, towns and cities is being built upon; most roads are at a standstill and those that aren't are plagued by speeding drivers; millions are paid public money not to work whilst foreigners arrive daily and disappear into the black economy; defence spending is lower than ever; drugs and their noxious fumes are everywhere; children are taught to hate Britain and the BBC has become the propaganda arm of the government, especially in all matters anti-British and pro-Johnny Foreigner.
I could go on and on about the death by a thousand cuts that our stupid governments have inflicted on us.
The Labour and Conservative parties ought to be kicked right of of this country and never allowed to return.
