It is indeed a cable characteristic - what units does it use?

when does your average electrician need to worry about millivolts and micovolts.

Again, that is giving the millivolt drop per amp per meter for a given cable size

I was wondering what would happen if you connected a 9V battery across the mains?

Don't suppose you know the answer to that do you?

Small pop, puff of smoke, top came off battery, breaker tripped.

Not very spectacular.
 
Just to take the thread hijack back for a second... I found an earth pushed up against a live wire, seemed a bit squashed but not making contact. Replaced earth sleeve, rerouted wires. All good :cool:
