I have just bought a very old table saw with Mortise attachment made by S. Tyzack and Son with a 14-inch blade. The motor has been replaced with a huge 1½ hp motor that is way underpowered. I am going to replace it with a 3 hp motor. What speed should a 14 inch blade run at?

Bod - circular saws for WOOD should run at about 9000 ft per min at the periphery which works out for you 14"er at about 2600 - 2900 rpm. Hope this helps.

thanks Symptoms thats great just what I needed to know. I will get one on order. this will be better than the junk I burn out just as its out of warranty. :D
