Hi,

I'm about to install a cooker hood - with a 3amp FCU. Is it ok to get a 13Amp FCU and just swp the fuse for a 3 amp?

And can I take the power from a domestic lighting circuit.

Many thanks

A domestic lighting circuit is fused at 6A or 5A so does not need to be fused down.

If you were putting an FCU on a ring, then yes, you should fuse it down. Appliances on FCUs and fused plugs only need the fuse rating appropriate to their load, so for example a table lamp or a radio should be 3A

I think i will stick with the 3Amp fcu - that's what the hood manufacturers recommwnd.

Thanks
