17th edition start?

do they apply to jobs started on 1st july or paperwork filled in after 1st july?
e.g. started a job on 27th june but wont be filing paperwork until about 3rd july

As it says on page 4 of the red book, all work designed after today are to comply with BS7671:2008.

Before you do any installation work you need to design it.
If it was designed to the 16th edition on the 27th June then it can still be installed to the 16th edition after today.

well i looked at it on friday and worked out what was needed and how i was going to achieve it so i guess thats design

just been informed by my H&S that because its domestic work then
the design factor is out the window and i have to comply
with 17th edition even though the work was started on 27th june

Doesn't matter whether its domestic or not BS7671 makes no differentiation. Suggest you read BS7671 carefully and you'll see what design means. If you dont know what it means should you be doing the work?

yea i know but i fit kitchens and the company have their own rules which
are more extreme than the regs and i have to comply with them.

Its they who said that i cant use the design card because i am designing
the electrical work while i am on the job
