1G to 2G sockets

hi, ive got a couple of sockets i want to change. they are currently single socket outlets and i wish to make them into double outlets. they are wired on the main ring and are rcd protected.

a mate has suggested the easiest way of doing this would be to fit clipseal socket converta's which means the backbox's dont have to be changed.
i know they dont look the best quality but they will be in the hall out of the way so dont need to look good.

these sockets are single pole (cant find any double pole ones). question is would this be a problem? my installation is TT with the rod as earth. i know double poles are better but i believe singles are exceptable....

cheers

Simple to sort really....

Turn of Mains...

Remove single socket....

Remove old backbox... Carfully without damage to existing cables...

Big hammer and chisle make hole bigger

Fit new back box

Fit new double socket.

turn on mains and test...

Job done....

Shouldnt take more than 30mins per change over, and the jobs done as is should be...

SP are OK.

You might consider cutting out the single back-boxes and replacing with doubles one day. A good time is next time you are decorating the room.
