I had an electric cooker put in last year. It has it's own 6mm cable goinf from a 32AMP MCB in the consumer unit to the cooker connection point and switch.

I want to add another identical oven and need to know how the second one would have to be connected. I will get an electrician in to do the work but I would prefer to but the parts ready for him.

Both ovens have a connection rating of 3650W and 16 AMP current.

I presumr I just need another cooker connection point an another switch. Is this correct?

By the way the oven will be side by side so there is no distance between them except for the appliance housing wall.

Thanks for your help.

when you say "oven" do you mean "oven" or "cooker?"

I cant imagine the manufacter of the oven would be happy for them to be protected by a 32A protective device, but you can consult the manual in case...

Either fuse the existing circuit down to 16A (asumming it only supplies the other oven) and install a new 16A circuit for the new one.

Or take the feed from the cooker connection point to an (assessible) eclosure containing 2 16A breakers (or BS88 fuses if you so desire) and feed each oven from the 16A sub circuits

Thanks for your advice. I assume that the fuse in the Consumer Unit is 32 AMP as this is labeled as 32Amp and the electrician procured this himself.

I think I will adopt your suggestion of the 2 x 16Amp fuses.

Now to find a qualified electrician to do the installation.
