2 lights with 3 switches problem connecting

I think it's exactly as you said. First one has lots of wires (the one I've changed). There are two earth wires, 4 brown and 4 blue ( one marked brown). I've connected all brown to loop, 3 blue to N and blue marked brown to L. The other light has only brown,blue and earth wire. So obviously it's all not connected as it should be.

It's hard to say as you don't state what wires you have.

It's a possibility the first light has a lot of wires, and the cable going to the second light is connected to the permanent supply instead of the switched supply.

But unless you describe how it's connected we can't tell you exactly what needs to be done.
