Hello,

I've just bought a 3 gang, 2 way switch to control three light fittings. However, since buying it I've decided I want to control one of the lights via a 3 way setup. This may be obvious, but am I able to use a 2 way switch for this, or do I need to get a 3 way one?
I can't seem to find a 3 gang switch which has 2 way and 3 way configurations.

Any help appreciated.

You may have to buy a three way grid switch, which will take three
individual switches which can be any type, in your case two 2-way and an
intermediate switch.

You will have to fit this switch on a double backbox. ;)

If you want to control a light from three different positions, you use two 2way switches and 1 intermediate switch. So in one of the positions fit an intermediate (about £6 in B & Q) in lieu of the existing switch and re wire accordingly.

Thanks all. Very helpful. I'll use the 2 x 2 ways and an intermediate.
