2 way switch, 2 circuits, arced neutral

Hi all,
I have just moved into a house and went to use the light switch last night, it buzzed then shorted. Took the switch off this morning and there looks to have been an arc across to neutral(?)

This switch has 2 feeds, looking at it the right switch controls the downstairs hall, the left switch is a 2 way to control the landing.
There are a few cables, it was a blue with red band that seems to have arced, this was connected to the top L3 point, my question is, is the wiring ok? I mean the hallway switch worked fine as I've used that before now, secondly, where is the blue wire meant to go so the 2 way works properly.

It goes in one of the L3s. But as we don’t know which terminals belong to which switch from your diagram I can’t say which L3.

This is an old switch, l1,l2,l3, no com. Should the yellow not be in l1?

It goes in the L3 which is burnt. But you may need a new switch. There is no reason for the yellow wire to be wrong if you have not touched it.

Thank, just put the blue into L3 on that section. Works fine.
Seems to have arced as the exposed wire was too long/not fully in as opposed to my thinking it was connected incorrectly.

You still should replace the switch.

There are no neutrals in that switch. just because a wire is blue doesn’t make it a neutral. See that red sleeve on the wire? That tells you that the wire can be live.

Indeed... But in the circumstances, which is offering appropriate and good advice, it would have been a fair comment to mention it's not a neutral.

Yes it really is a good idea to replace the switch having had such an incident.
