We want to change some doors in the house and my wife has picked the 4 panel oak door for most, with a couple the half glazed version of the same door.
Having previously worked in building industry I tried my local Howdens.
This is the door type (size 1981 x 762 non fire door) .. sink link below ..

Of course they can’t give a price as I am no longer in the trade. I would have to pay the full price. As I’ll be fitting the doors myself I can’t get a price ‘through a local joiner’
We’ve seen similar doors in Wickes, but of course for some reason very few tradesmen would buy a door at Wickes .. there must be a reason for that. Is it price, or is it quality.
Here’s the link to their door. At £170 for 2, or £129 this would be OK if I needed an even number of doors, but I need 7. So 6 at £85 then the other at £44 extra. I even asked whether it could be £129 for one door and perhaps £85 for more than two, but deal only for pairs, 6 8 etc

If a tradesman knows the price of the Howden's door, maybe it would just work out cheaper and a lot easier just to find a joiner and let him buy the door at trade price. Even if he adds a little, the total would maybe end up cheaper .. and easier for me too
