I need to re-route an electric shower cable. The shower is 9.5kW and the shower switch is 45 amp. I can only find 30 amp junction boxes in B&Q. Do 45amp junction boxes exist?
I was going to say more or less the same.Although in an ideal world a complete cable is better, there is nothing wrong with a correctly installed junction box.
The problem with crimps is that done properly they are a very good joint, but if they arn't then it can be a very poor joint. Anyone with a decent set of handtools that takes their time and understands the importance of getting the terminals tight can make a reasonable joint using a jointbox. With crimps you need a decent pair of crimpers which a fair few quid and you need to be able to recognise that the joint hasn't gone pear shaped (and the best way to be able to do that, is a bit of scrap cable, some connectors and a vice, practice joining cable and pulling it apart, and you'll get a feel for it)
