Hi

Can I use 5.5mm fibreboard over a grooved chipboard sub floor with 6mm laminate flooring?

As I think I read somewhere it was not for 6mm or below: I may be wrong?

Be great if I could, as I've already bought enough to do a few rooms with 10mm laminate and for the one room above.

Thanks
Paul

I'd be using 3mm underlay with a 6mm laminate as you don't want to much compression under the joints of the laminate

Thanks dazlight, that's what I eventually thought it was referring to.
Since putting this post up I asked 2 different floor sales people, one from B&Q and the other from Taskers, both said it was fine to use the 5.5mm underlay with with 6mm laminate, but I don't think they got the grasp of the thinner, more flexible material being affected by the thicker, more compressible underlay.
