I have the opportunity to buy a batch of these and think they might be useful for a garage/workshop project. I am sure i could do the suspended structure over the benchwork etc. Anyone used them for something similar? Would they be easy/cheap for electrician to connect to garage CU ? Or would there be hidden difficulties that negate the bargain price?

They would look crap unless in a suspended ceiling!
Even if they're free, it'll cost more to build a bit of suspended ceiling to mount them in, than it will to buy the proper fittings!
The one in my workshop had suspension wire mounting points. It was very easy to mount without fitting a suspended ceiling.

They'll be no more difficult for your electrician to connect than any other light, as far as wiring is concerned.
Thanks for the advice. I think i'll pass on the offer and stick with normal fittings.
