Hi all,
I'm replacing a cooker in my kitchen. It's a 60cm model, but it's apparent from measuring the surface tops that the cooker itself is actually slightly narrower than that, and whoever installed the kitchen built the surfaces flush with the cooker (I've checked in the manual, and the cooker is fine to be installed in contact with cabinets).
This means the actual gap is more like 59.4cm at best. This is problematic, because many of the cookers I've looked at need a genuine 60cm gap at the back for the mounting points.
I have have a couple of options for how to solve this:
A) We can try to cut / sand down the edges of the existing counter top and units slightly.
B) The unit on the left does have space to shuffle further left if needed.
I'm leaning towards option B. The challenge with this is that the granite counter top and the granite splashguard/plinth look to be bonded direct to the wall with some kind of glue/resin. Whilst the cabinets look straightforward and are screwed in, I'm not really sure how to get this off. One video I've seen suggests cutting away what you can and then hammering in wedges to separate. Is anyone familiar with this approach / problem and can recommend a way forward?
Thanks!
