62 plate civic wont start

I have 62 plate civic

Battery completely dead. Won't jump however when connected by leads to other car the dash lights etc will come to life that is until I try to start car then it completely dies again.

Any suggestions on this ?

The battery is only 4 or 5 years old.

Get a battery charger or use better quality jump leads

The battery has reached the end of its life at 4/5 years old unless its a particularly fine example of the battery industry. The plates will be shorting out, so your attempts to jump start are taking all the available charge into the dead battery and leaving nothing left to turn the engine over.

Only OEM batteries will last over 4/5 years in my experience. We tend to go for a mid price example when buying new ones instead of the pricier OEM supplier.

Keep the donor car engine on and revving.....maybe the jump leads aren’t up to the job, as per post by thomp.....
Do the clips get warm, maybe?
