I do find it a little odd that they are investigating engine specific items such as the EDFP's as they would only cause power loss to a single engine.

Interesting theory, but I'm not so sure. This is 'kind of' my area, and jammers like this aren't that different to cellular base stations, and planes on the approach to Heathrow must pass reasonably close to many of them.

On the other hand, if someone had invented an EMP gun......
