What is the "CC" that plumbers and gas engineers talk about on this forum?

Combustion chamber.

You have to be one of the elite to join  , yea right. :P

Sometimes it's Course Cowboy. A derogatory term for someone who has attended a short course, usually plumbing, and then let themselves loose on the paying public.

More often though, its Combustion Chamber.

As DIY gas is not illegal, why the secrecy?

DIY gas work is not a criminal offence.

But its still illegal for someone who is not competent to do gas work. Doing it can put you in prison if you injure or kill anyone.

Thats irrelevant because this site has rules which users have to accept and one of those is not to give DIY advice on gas or safety issues.

'cos we know far more than you do about our trade, and not enough working knowledge dispensed willy nilly would be dangerous.

Queue diatribe about being a software engineer so how could the understanding of Stoichiometric Combustion be that hard?

Or I works as a mechanic and never have oil leaks so running a gas main is a POP.

Sorry dude, get over it.

There is no secret , everything related to gas can be found on the internet , if your a good googler you'll make an impression just like some on here and in the CC.

It's where the oCCult takes place on here, and the professionals discuss big issues such as green or red topped milk in their tea.

You see once, you move from Marg to butter the world opens up.

Its like driving a German car - then a Japanese one.... or owning a German boiler then a Dutch one.

You think you know... then you realise you know little and you wish... oh how you wish you hadn't bothered with that french or Italian POS and followed the advice given all those years ago by someone you mocked then and respect now.

Ahem.....
