The solution is simple and obvious....... Leave the radiator where it is.

I saw that this post was 5 pages long about moving a rad and thought, SOME RAD THAT MUST BE!
Then after looking during a tea break, It was clear that the rad was not the only problem. As is often the case, other things come into play. The removing of the wall in this case appears to be the driver. A very simple answer is to leave the rad in place and treat it as a island.
