Hi, I am trying to understand the difference between a RCD and a MCB.
I know a MCB protects gthe cable, and trips a switch in the consumer unit if too much current flows down the cable. this is correct??!!
But a RCD detects an inbalance in current between the Live and Neutral wires and cuts the circuit?? Is this correct?!!!
Also where is a RCD connected to? Obviously a MCB connects from the consumer unit to the individual circuit it is protecting. but where does a RCD join up/connect to!!!? thanks for any help!!!
