A timer for an oil boiler that can't be tampered with.

Simple set the times you want and lock it away.

For public use we would install a 1 or 2 hour timer, push the button and it turns off again in 1 or 2 hours, also available is timers up to 6 hours,

I have an occupation detector, any movement bring the boiler on, 6mins after there's no movement it goes off. Simple to fit and over-rides the programmer the same as a frost stat

But surely this must be a common situation ? People playing with timers when they shouldn't. My question still remains. Is there a timer with a digital locking mechanism ?

yes there are a few I can think if, but they are commercial ones, and not cheap.
but since you seem to want it for a commercial property then It may be better in the long run to upgrade your controls
Is the system zoned at the moment?

Matt

Thanks Matt. No the system isn't zoned, it's only a small club out in the sticks. Probably 5 rads and a HW tank.

The Danfoss Randall MK8 series programmers can be locked with a key but they're not cheap.

Thanks for the guard link but we really need a new programmer because the one we have at the moment isn't comprehensive enough.

When you say that the Danfoss Randall MK8 isn't cheap could you give me a "for instance" at all please ?

Thanks for that. Bit pricey for us. Weldmesh cage wired up to 240V it is then. 8)

We had a similar problem in our local scout hut. I fitted a danfoss 852 programmer which I picked up second hand. This is locked in the mains cupboard. There is an accessible electrisaver switch in the main hall which gives a 30. 60 and 120 min boost function to the system. There is also a dummy stat with a neon indicator on it which doesn't actually do anything apart from pacify the unit leaders' compulsion to fiddle.

I like that. My problem is that being a sociable club we sell alcohol. That, and electrical timers as I have discovered, are not good bedfellows. Surely it isn't beyond the wit of man to design a timer that requires a master code ?

Dragon's Den here I come. 8)

Scooby - So many people have given you the perfect solution and cheapest answer to your problem which is:

A Honeywell ST9400C mounted in a Rittal (or similar) Lockable Metal electrical enclosure.

On the fron of the box will be a momentry push to make button,
wired to a timer relay inside the box (with the honeywell prog) set to run the heat for one hour (if the prog is in a off period)

Why can you not see that this is all you need??? :?

We have to buy a new timer. The one we have at the moment isn't comprehensive enough as I mentioned before. All I asked is if there is a timer that works on a master code principle. If there is then I would buy one. It seems that there isn't one in the general domestic type of timer.

I couldn't give a damn about whether it has an extra hour option or not. So, to recap: I want to timer that does at least 2 cycles per 24 hours, is programmable differently for each of the days of the week ( I know that these exist - I have 3 in my house) but is there such a thing that can be locked with a master code ? I would have thought that was a reasonable question. It is a yes or a no. if it is a no then it is a tamperproof box of some sort. I had figured that bit out myself.

no longer watching.

Nor me. I run a web site on behalf of a classic vehicle club (that incorporates an on-line shop) and whenever people come on to the Forum asking for suggestions and help it doesn't end up like this. Pottertons are only down the road. I'll give them a call on Monday.

The danfoss clock pictured earlier is as close as you're going to get.

It's very versatile timer with regards to the settings, and you need a key to be able to change any of the settings.
