Hi everyone, I am about to attack this task on Saturday because both calipers are totally seized and I got new ones cheap from GSF (£30 Febi).
Done this before on other cars, but this is well rusty, anything in particular I should make sure I do?
I'm a bit concerned about the hoses bolt that looks very rusty.
Any advice on removing them safely?
Thanks

Those pipes shouldn’t really be much of a problem. A drop of penetrating fluid on them and use a pipe spanner on the nuts. Jiggle the nuts back and forth as you are loosening them instead of one steady pull and they should undo pretty easy.

A quality pipe spanner is a good move.......I have a Halfords Professional one, nice wall thickness etc.
On difficult pipes I've used Mole grips if the spanner jaws had a tendency to spread.
Curious - I thought these cars had a banjo bolt system on the rears!
John :)

They are normally pretty good but sometimes the nut on the brake pipe can seize, be careful because if that`s the case it can shear the pipe.
Wire brush it all as best you can and apply penetrating fluid, yours don`t look too bad to be fair.
A bit of heat can be used if hoses/calipers are being replaced but just take care.

Anyone knows what size brake line spanner I need for my A3 8PA 2006?
@Mottie you have one of these A3? Or newer model?
Don't want to take wheel off again to check.

It can only be 10mm or 11mm, but if my memory serves me well it's 10. And as most brake pipe spanners come with both those sizes, you'll only need to buy one.
