Hi, i am in the process of putting a timber garage at the end of our back garden and need some advice on access. My main question is - Does the car need to be able to come completely off of the road before entering the garage? Thanks

No. Garage can be built right at the edge of your property, provided this is permitted.

Garages are typically set level or back from the front of a house, as you are unlikely to get planning permission for a garage built closer to the road than the dwelling it belongs to.

The other reason is so that people with garages can park their car in front of the garage, and fill the garage with useless junk they neither want or need, yet for some reason are compelled to keep.
