I'm going to be installing an ACO drain when I lay a new patio. I've done this before but this time there will be a rainwater downpipe entering the side about halfway along. Sort of like a 'T' junction.

As it will only be a couple of feet from the downpipe to line drain I didnt want to bother with a gulley pot and 110mm pipe. I wanted to just run a standard square downpipe under the patio and directly into the line drain.

Has anyone ever done this and how? I was thinking of maybe placing a corner junction in line with the downpipe and just cutting out a piece to allow the pipe to enter the drain?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Why don't you discharge the DP into the grill of the Aco? Burying small bore DP is never a good idea as they block quickly in the Autumn. I actually install all my DP's slightly short of all gullies or grilles to allow rubbish to come out.

I used to let the pipe through the gully grill but not any more. Everything is made easier (maintenance etc) when the pipe is about 40mm short.

But surely if the leaves block the grill, then the rainwater just flies over the top and not down the drain? o_O

Nah, gravity works just the same with rainwater as it does with rafters Woods. The rain is happy to just fall into the gully. We set out gullies lower than the paved surfaces in any case so there is always catchment.

The 40mm gap allows crud to disperse rather than gather.

Sorry, should explain that the 'T' section will run across a patio. So the long run of drainage will run alongside a patio with a smaller section in the middle where the drain will need to cross. Sorry if not clear(n)
