Adding a floor to a loft

Thanks for the comments. I'm meeting the BCO this morning. I've got a fair idea of the other steps (fire, sound, electrical etc.) required for BR- it's the structural requirements that I've no experience of/ was unsure of. The dimensions are approx- if all goes well I'd make a more detailed scale diagram or get a quote.

Anyway- fingers crossed :)

All systems go. :)

The only comment was either to use 8x2 joists, or use 6" steels with 5x2 joists. Will have to compare and contrast the prices. Any comments on one versus the other method in terms of price/ time/ ease of installation?

Will the difference in the price of 8x2 vs. 5x2 cover the costs of the steelwork? How much of a pain is it to chamfer and fit the ends of 8x2 in the eaves?
